http://timesonline.typepad.com/thegame/2009/12/pragmatic-gary-megson-deserves-more-credit-for-bolton-revival.html
From that link i got this... (im gonna highlight some of the points)
Megson deserves more credit!
James Ducker
Gary Megson does not have Jose Mourinho’s good looks or a French accent like Arsene Wenger and the more fickle element of Bolton Wanderers’s support, who decided long ago that he was not their cup of tea, will probably continue to hold that against him until they succeed in their efforts to have him replaced.
They will try to tell you that it has nothing to do with image and everything to do with results, pointing in their defence to the fact that they took great delight in seeing Arsene Wenger routinely paint their team as some sort of monster during Sam Allardyce’s reign as Bolton manager after Arsenal had been given another bullying at the Reebok Stadium. It is nonsense, of course.
Megson’s face doesn’t fit as far as some Bolton fans – but by no means all – are concerned and it never will, which is a shame because the former West Bromwich Albion manager has done a far better job than a lot of people give him credit for.
He did not succeed Allardyce. He followed Sammy Lee, who did so much damage in just over six months in charge at the Reebok that the task facing Megson upon his arrival in October 2007 was colossal. Lee is a lovely bloke but his managerial reign should go down as one of the worst in recent history, the woefully flawed vision of a man who tried to do far too much far too quickly in a well intentioned but terribly misguided attempt to distance himself from Allardyce, his predecessor whose shadow loomed so large.
It does continue, go to the link to read the rest of the bull!
things like
Megson is a manager who is not content solely with route one tactics.
Some appear to still live in an Allardyce bubble
Bolton are also a more attractive team to watch under Megson than Allardyce.
i think this person has only seen the city and west ham match?
you cant say all those things about megson if you take the whole package into consideration.

Re: this article is full of shite
I think Megson personally wrote that and handed it to ducker, just utter garbage. This guy is a football correspondent and apparently does not know that Jussi was at Bolton before Megson arrived. Elmander was more than a huge mistake, his past goalscoring record is any but that of an £8-11m striker, even at brondby, the strongest side in a crap league, his record was nothing special, Anelka would score about 50 goals a season for them.

Re: this article is full of shite
I thought we were the laughing stock of the football world and yet articles like this keep cropping up.

Your obsession with Curtis is becoming slightly alarming.

Your blind devotion to Megson and Gartside has always been alarming.

Tim: Where does the article mention Jussi?
I think it raises some good points. Some of it is innaccurate but to say it is all rubbish is wide of the mark.

He says the only two players from the Lee era still playing in the premier are Diouf and Anelka, what about Jussi, Rikki, Davies etc.

Re: this article is full of shite
I assume he means the players who left the club, not who are still at it. It is well known that both Davies and Jussi preceeded Megson, hell Jussi and Gardner preceeded Allardyce.
Still, if that is the main thing to take from the article then i agree with you. Total c*nt!

I know what you mean dh I'm sure that is what he meant, but I mean he writes for the times, surely he should check his copy.
What I can't understand it how Megson has managed to persuade so many people that all we can expect at Bolton is to just stay up if we are lucky, I mean Birmingham, Stoke and Fulham seem to be allowed to expect more, but not us?

Don't forget Burnley, too, Tim.
Personally, if I am entertained then he's doing a decent job. If I'm entertained AND we are getting a decent amount of points and not lingering in the bottom 3-5 all season, he's doing a decent job. In those instances, he'd get my full backing and I'd forgive him his gingerness (well, maybe not).
However, in general the football is atrocious and the results have been dire....MEGSON OUT!
