Transfer News Van Nistlerooy/Holden etc
Stoke have approached to by Ruud man. But failed. I think Bolton could have a good place for him. Klasnic and Ruud up front?
"Stoke have been bold in their approach but knew they would always struggle to persuade the 32-year-old that the Britannia Stadium was where he could press his claims for a World Cup recall"
*********************
Holden -
The US international midfielder has been training with Bolton Wanderers' first team after Owen Coyle invited him over.
Holden was originally targeted by Blackburn and then Burnley stepped in to offer him a chance.
However, with Coyle's departure, Holden was unsure whether he would get his chance to impress at Turf Moor.
Now he is staking his claim for a contract. Holden was born in Aberdeen and moved to America when he was 10.
He signed for Sunderland in 2005 but left after being injured in a bar attack.
He has 12 caps for the US and likes a shot at goal. He has a strong chance of making the World Cup squad - all the more if he signs for Bolton.
********************************
Could we have tempted Celtic captain Caldwell?
Sportsmail exclusively revealed Wigan's bid for the Celtic captain and that is where he signed today.
Middlesbrough had courted him along with Celtic team-mates Chris Killen, Barry Robson and Willo Flood but Caldwell was keen to test himself at the top level and once Wigan offered £500,000 to Celtic he made up his mind.
Caldwell did speak to Boro and turned up for the medical but found a Premier League chance to difficult to resist.

Vladimir Weiss
Manchester City to Bolton - The Insider says: 3/5
Weiss is highly rated throughout the Premier League and in France and Germany.
His emergence through City's youth team has been well monitored and he made a big impression playing for Slovakia against Northern Ireland.
He also notably gave Manchester United defender Jonny Evans a torrid time.
United were keen on him as a result but knew City would not do business with them. They may be more receptive to a request from new Bolton boss Owen Coyle though.
