Elmander Out Again Empty Elmander Out Again

Johan Elmander has again picked up an injury (in the Reserves on Monday) that will keep him out for a few weeks (hamstring).

He wouldn't be in my starting line-up anyway but he's an important squad player. This sequence of injuries, and his poor scoring record, makes him look like a very bad expensive signing! Crying or Very sad

Megson?
Unlucky??

I expected so much more from Elmander this season.
Already Klasnic looks like a more promising proposition.
Looking at the way our front line played on Saturday, I would think an injury would be the least of his problems.

I think you may well be right..... but I also think Elmander would prosper playing with Lee and Cohen...!!

I'd honestly not be surprised if we tried to make the Klasnic deal permanent in January and sell Elmander at that time, too. Klasnic looks more our type of player.

Elmander Out Again Empty Re: Elmander Out Again

the first time in a year that we did anything like proper wing play (lee chong v west ham) and elmander scored within not very long of being on the pitch.

this is how we will get the best from elmander, fast breaks forwards with the ball, pull backs, or through balls on the ground.

so far elmander has had the ball blasted in his general direction at head height from our own half. there are a lot of decent players in the prem who would look pretty poor if you did that to them for 90 minutes every game.

elmander is a fast player who is decent on the ball and plays an intelligent game. some players just don suit some stlyes. for example would everyone say davies is kakk if we played flair football all the time and always broke quickly with the ball on the floor doing slick fast passing moves and fancy tricks if it meant davies would be left lagging slightly to keep up or when the ball is being pinged around he couldnt really keep up with what was going on ie he would miscontrol or miss pass it or just generally slow it down,,, what ever it was??? anyway, no! you wouldnt say davies was no good you would say we were playing the wrong style for him, understand the same is true for elmander much of the time.

Well, I agree that we don't play to Elmander's strengths, thus he is almost always going to fail. Note that he does well for his country, where they do play to his strengths.

The problem is that Davies isn't going to get dropped and, right now, who would/could be dropped to make room for Elmander?

Rather than drop Davies, I see Megson offloading Elmander in January to recoup some of the cash we spent on him.
