Big Spam Allardyce
"Unless one leaves, we won't be in for another striker,"
"We're at our limits in terms of squad and financial commitments.
"The older I get, the more I understand this situation. You have to understand the whole business."
When this happened at Bolton it was because we didn't have ambition. When the same thing happens at Blackburn it's apparently understandable.
The more BSA talks the more he contradicts himself.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
Had the board demonstrated the same ambition as Sam and had Eddie Davies provided him with the £10m / £20m
/ £30m (please delete as appropriate) we would have qualified for the Champions League. That is scientific fact. There is no evidence for this but it is scientific fact.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
Yes but breeze, the last sentence of his quote in your post suggests that he sees it differently now as he understands the situation better... maybe he felt frustrated at Bolton and suggested at the time that it was lack of ambition. Whereas now a couple of years on he's back in the same boat and having had the experience at our place, sees it in a new light.
Anyone would think you don't like the man.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
It was only a couple of months back he made the comment about leaving Bolton because of the lack of ambition at the club. You have to remember that Sam says a lot of things for attention but the reality often plays out differently. Looks at how many times he said he would retire after his 10 year contract expired at Bolton. I like it when he talks and talks because he wraps himself up in a blanket of contradiction and it all adds up to make you realise that although he's a nice fella, he really is as thick as winter shite.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
He is not thick, he is certainly brighter than Megson. The fact is we had a one off opportunity to get to the champions league, which might have allowed us to progress to the next level, not up their with the big boys. One can understand that when Sam had three players he felt could get us there lined up, at a relatively modest cost (about £12m), far less than Megson has spent, only a little more than Megson spent on one crap forward, that the board not backing arguably the most successful manager in our history could drive him to frustration, hell not backing him has not exactly turned out to be a bed of roses.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
Well I hate to take sides here but if we're talking football sense then Sam has proven his worth albeit he only has Plan A (which appears to be his downfall). Megson is a very grey man when it comes to football because his personality is shockingly limited.
Away from football Sam is dense...and I mean really dense. His grammar is apaling, apawl, appolling...shit and he really isn't a well read bloke. Megson on the other hand is a genuinely bright man by comparison and he seems to have a reasonable grasp of general knowledge. Of course none of this matters but I can't accept anyone arguing that Sam is not thick.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
If the board had given Sam the money he wanted who says his signings would have helped us make the top 4. Look at the shite he bought for Newcastle ! And I was one of those at that time screaming for the board to give him cash.
As Breeze says he's a nice fellow, but he talks some rubbish .

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
I do believe that BIG SAM has read all of the HARRY POTTER books.
Dear old GARY prefers THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
I think that's Graham Nortons favourite too.
I don't know what I'm on about in this thread, I set off thinking of BIGSAM in bed with stripey pyjamas reading Harry Potter.
It must be time for another mince pie, see back to Graham Norton.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
It does my head in when people refer to Sam as our greatest ever manager. What has he ever won for Pete's sake (did you see that, I used a Breezeism)! People really should research our history. Best manager in my books is Charlie Foweraker, bit before my time but his record speaks for itself.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
Sam might not be the brightest light; however, he CAN read. I've seen him reading many, many times...every time he is interviewed by Sky! You can see his eyes flitting over to his notes/answers, or downward to his notes/answers when he's holding them.
He does leave Megson standing in the dirt when it comes to personality though.

Re: Big Spam Allardyce
Sam was at the peak of his powers when he was here. Post Panorama he was a changed man. Now older, richer, tired, and more cynical he is a shadow of the cutting edge manager who part revolutionised the Premiership. E.G. Prozone use, 4:5:1, Free contract/loan foreign superstar acquisition - Campo, Djorkaeff, Ngotty, Okocha., ice cold showers, playing your reserves in the cup, set piece artistry (very occasionally) and so on.
