CURBISHLEY
CURBS is being interviewed on TUESDAY according to a lot of sources and is GARTSIDE's second choice if COYLE decides to stay at BURNLEY.
I have to say I am not sure who I would prefer, but would probably choose CURBISHLEY myself.
I think there is far too much hysteria over signing a past player.

Curbs would definitely be a safe bet. I'd be happy enough with either though; in spite of the fact that Coyle is unproven at this level.

I don't think COYLE has a suit.

Megson's points per game ratio when downhill when he wore a suit.

Re: CURBISHLEY
Coyle for me, for the many reasons I'm now bored of repeating.
Curbs would be a huge improvement on Megson (but so would our dog), but I always think back to the latter stages at Charlton when he was completely incapable of turning around an absolutely dire run, and pretty much said so in every post match interview.
Given the choice, I think Coyle could do great things at Bolton and bring back the type of pride we had under Rioch (but in the prem!!), whereas I think Curbs would be a vast improvement on Megson, but things would be far less exciting than with OC.

Wakey is right OC would be more exciting and he does seem to have a knack of causing upsets against the big teams, as I recall when Curbs was a Charlton, except at the end, they just beat everyone they should be but did not really trouble the big boys, or am I wrong?

Re: CURBISHLEY
It sounds about right with Curbs. Charlton usually had a good first half of the season followed by an irreversible slump in the 2nd half, which usually ended with them finishing 10th (ish).
That seemed to be the pattern every year, and I suppose with that in mind, maybe after a season or two of that our fans would get on his back, so perhaps it's not best for the longer term.
Coyle's more of a risk, but I'm warming to the idea more and more (in-spite of the "ex-Bolton" cliche stigma thing).

I don't think it should be seen as a requirement for the manager to be an ex-player but it is nice, I do think it could be really exciting with Coyle in charge.

It won't be exciting if we get relegated with COYLE in charge.

Why should we, our players are better than Burnley's and he is keeping their heads above water.

Re: CURBISHLEY
If we did get relegated with Coyle in charge, I'd be confident of us walking the Championship under him, something that I couldn't sau under Megson.
That said, I think that we have more than enoigh quality to pull clear. With it being so tight, the new manager, whomever he may be be, hopefully Coyle or Curbs, will be able to mkae an instant impression as, with a new manager lift, we could easily be as high as 10th in a month or so, considering there is only 5 points difference between us and Sunderland. Not saying that will happen but it's possible. I certainly think that either Curbs or Coyle would keep us up with games to spare.

Re: CURBISHLEY
I think Wakey phrases it well.
Coyle looks perfect for us. Loves the club and is without doubt a real football management talent. I know he hasn't managed a Champions League run yet or had to deal with a host of other situations but - what I've seen I like - and have decided I'm buying!
By the way - have a look at the Burnley "Assistant" Manager interview after their game today. They headlined it - playing it down, but for me, it further fuels my hopes that we'll get him.

PS. If the club appointed Peter Reid then they were wrong to sack Megson. It should have been Gartside. However, I'm assuming that story is just a media red herring.

I took the same from that interview, Laughtoe... there's one or two things in there that look positive for us.

Such as (to paraphrase): "If he (Coyle) goes to Bolton I hope to go with him..."?
My head says Curbishley due to his knowledge of the league and the experience in getting results and keeping Charlton up.
However, there is an excitement/buzz about the thought of Owen Coyle and his brand of football being played (hopefully successfully) at the Reebok.
I'm still happy with either (or Hughes).

Re: CURBISHLEY
Wayne was hanging tough at the official board and hoping for the demise of Megson.
I contacted him a month or so ago but I don't have a copy of that email reply from him now and I can't recall what he said.
