Should Bolton have poppies on our shrts
Poppies
Does anyone else think it is a disgrace we are one of the few premier league clubs who will not have a poppy on our shirts. Bolton will not even comment on why they won't do it, which is pathetic and cowardly, more great management from Gartside.

Re: Poppies
I'd rather they saved the money and just gave it to the charities involved.

Re: Poppies
According to the BWFC website the team will be wearing shirts with poppies embroidered onto them.

Re: Poppies
I think you were right first time, breeze... give the money to the charities instead.
Having poppies stitched into the shirts... its just all for show; maybe we can have bigger sized poppies sewn into our shirts to show that we care more than everybody else.

Re: Poppies
When considering our illustrious history during the 2nd World War we should be wearing the poppy. I'd be very disappointed if we didn't.

Re: Poppies
I was under the impression that the poppy represented Armistice Day/WWI, not WWII, Pete.
Either way it is a nice gesture of remembrance, whether it is a patch or a pin-on (which won't work on the team shirt).

Re: Poppies
maybe not just for show, perhaps clubs haveing them emboidererd into the shirts raises the awareness further and popularises the concept more.
football teams cant exactly pin them on.
having said all that, i dont think a team should feel obliged to wear a poppy, i wouldnt say it was a disgrace not to do so.

Re: Poppies
The daily mail has had a campaign against the clubs that were not going to be wearing poppies on their shirts and as of today, with the club now stating they are participating, only man u and liverpool remain.I don't like the idea that football clubs are somehow doing wrong in not wearing poppies .I think i will stop buying the mail in protest, apart from saturdays when they have that free t.v guide

The poppy is worn in remembrance of all who have laid down their lives so that we might have a better life.bigsamsarmyusa wrote:I was under the impression that the poppy represented Armistice Day/WWI, not WWII, Pete.

Re: Poppies
Glad the club are doing it, not sure why we had to be the third last to agree. Mind you at least that still makes us better than the scum.

It's cash in the tin that matters, not a pretentious show of look at me, I'm so wonderful.

Re: Poppies
It's a nice gesture, however, forcing a bunch of foreigners, some that might not necessarily hold the same views on remembrance of those killed in battle, might not be the best thing

Re: Poppies
If you are referring to the immigrant population Wendy then as far as I'm concerned they can either get with the program of return to whence they came. Really could care less about hurting anyone's feelings at this time of year. Did you see The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas yet by the way ?

No, I was actually referring to the foreign players, Pete.
Not seen Boy in the Striped Pyjamas yet, though I do have it in my collection and will get around to it.

Re: Poppies
I don't think it did.
If it did, it managed to go unnoticed.
I think I may have to track down a copy of the book.
