new look?

i have started making a test site, have a look and decide if you prefer the look or not...?

I look the 'cleanness' of it. Not too busy. However, it is very basic and I don't know what you want to add to it.

What you need on here/what I would like, is in the "post message toolbar" the ability to "undo" and "redo" functions.

i want to add all the stuff that is on here really, what do you mean by basic.

what happens is, i design that lay out and then when its done i install it onto this forum, so for us nothing changes, all the posts and catagories etc all stay where they are, just the colours and shapes of the new design.

get me?

i went with white and blue obviously but i could add more colour if its a bit pain.

or is it too boxy and less friendly looking?

ps, the logo thing at the top is just an example, is that kind of look better than this one?

and what about the name?

I like the simple banner and photo. I personally find the blue too dark and cold. I'd tone it down more toward the standard IE/MSN blue, maybe even two-tone.

Not sure that the scrolling "latest topics" banner listing new posts is needed on here; it's just another "busy" detraction.

Are there more smilies that can be added?

You might want to clean up some of the topics. Some just aren't necessary (such as international/whatever it is called).

I am not sure that I care for the name "wanderworld" as it would only be meaningful to any diehard fans and wouldn't make sense to anyone searching for a bwfc site. I think you need bwfc or Bolton in the site name, IMO.

Not so much "fixing" Spliffy as "improving" is what I think Jayjay is after.

Obviously he is the only one really concerned as I'm the only one to have replied to his post, until you posted.

My ideas are more "tinkering" with what he has already presented here.

The forum needs to be linked from a decent web domain as mentioned on another thread. It's pretty hard to get new people to come here with such a strange web name. A regular .com or .co.uk domain linking to here would really help with word of mouth.

Yeah I understand that and it does need a link to it, but it dosnt need to resemble another site with like for like features, this site has its own identity

jayjay needs to buy a name and link it to this board and market it if he wants it to grow and hope the board dosnt go down, or he could do what bolton banter did and put up a paypal account and ask all the members to donate something to build a new website that he will be able to control

I've just googled bwfc, it needs to be on that first page to attract new members and I've gone back 15 pages and still cant find it altho its not all bad, even burnden aces only appear on page 4

I also found this board's main link on page 5. Still, page 5 isn't good when it comes to Googling. I rarely go to sites that aren't on the first page unless it is something obscure that I'm looking for.

Google searches for a BWFC forum? Get real...who on earth would go looking for a BWFC forum? Forums spread by word of mouth and by messages. Once a new domain is set up, just get a load of mini-flyers printed and leave them on the tables at the Fanzone or hand them out around the ground. Also, the other web forums need to be spammed by PM'ing other members - I couldn't give a fuck what folk say, that's how most forums started.

Just do it.

Fuckin ell JJ, not before time. I accidentaly deleted the current domain and had difficulty finding it again. I went to the initial e mail invitation to access it again. Wonderworld is original and a name not to be forgotten so go for it. No ned for match reports as most of us do attend the games. Merry Christmas from me.
