Big Big chance
26th Burnley
29th Hull
6th Arsenal
9th Hull
4 games in 2 weeks, 12 points to grab, 9 is realistic. 6 is minimum. Less is fired!

Re: Big Big chance
It is not enough, he must be fired. Yesterday the difference between Megson and Coyle was vast, the way Coyle encouraged and cheered his players on, Megson just stood looking clueless and occasionally shouted angrily at his players. When we scored our goal he called Cohen over, I presume to tell them to defend more, but even more amateurishly he kept him so long that Burnley kicked off with Cohen totally out of position and no-one covering, Megson is a fool.

Re: Big Big chance
That's the point a lot of people seem to miss about Owen Coyles managerial abilities. He has got a vastly inferior squad and yet are playing superior football and achieving significantly better results. Yes I know they may very well go back down, but the point is imagine what he could achieve with higher calibre players.

Re: Big Big chance
Totally agree, not only that but he showed the ability to change the course of a match tactically, by targeting our left flank, I have never seen megson change a match like that.

Re: Big Big chance
Coyle is still playing honeymoon football though. Better players have bigger wages and even bigger egos and managing them is different to styling 15 Championship players into a team that can hold their own for half a season.
I like Coyle, always did as a player - he's a thoroughly decent bloke but some of the descriptions of him and so obviously twisted by a combination of blurry nostagia and blind hatred of Megson that anyone would think it was the Second Coming.
Just remember all the things you are saying of Coyle were being said of Phil Brown at exactly this stage last season.

Re: Big Big chance
I think the crowd made very clear who they want to manage Bolton yesterday.
It is funny, people accuse me of being negative, but the truth is I am very positive. I see that Bolton could be successful, that we are a great club and that we should be doing better. The Megson fans like breeze are very negative, they can only see the worst, for example for Coyle, why should he do worse. He has done fantastically, his team were brave and adventurous, they came at us with everything they had from being a goal down and lets be honest should have won. These are the people who always see the worst happening, if we get rid of him things might get worse they say, they deride our club and say we could not get a good manager, I see the worst happening at Bolton as a result of empirical evidence, Megson's record, our possession stats, our defensive record, that is the difference. Coyle is better than Megson, so lets get him in.

Re: Big Big chance
Megson made a poor choice by going defensive yesteday just like BSA used to do. Against Spurs at home we went for the win and got it and we should have done the same against Burnley but he was clearly happy with a point.
As for Coyle we'll have to wait and see, he's done very well and he's saying all the right things but you can only judge a manager when you see how he deals with turmoil and depleted squads...all of which are due to arrive at Turf Moor before the end of the season. Like I said, plenty of people on here and other forums were creaming themselves over Phil Brown last year and I do believe nostalgia clouds the vision sometimes...fuck me, people were even wanting Mixu in charge!
Worth mentioning how many young people were chanting for Coyle yesterday...even though I doubt any of them ever saw him play for us.

Re: Big Big chance
He currently has the smallest budget in the league, anyone who went would have seen that the stadium is essentially a large shed and would need knocking down and rebuilding. I would imagine the training facilities and staff are in keeping with the stadium. He also has a very average squad. Whilst we have garbage like Robinson and Knight, we also have some very good players such as Jussi, Cahill, KD, Gardner and Lee. He has a much better chance of success that will get him a big job with us than with them, plus he would be assured of a hero's welcome. Indeed he could avoid a lot of the grief of moving by coming to us, whilst I am sure most Burnley fans would be angry, most other football people would accept him saying something along the lines of "Bolton are my old club and they needed me I could not say no".
Same old crap breeze, knocking our club and our fans, there is only one thing driving a wedge between bolton and the fans and that is Megson. If he goes and a guy like Coyle came in, everyone would be back on side straight away. Saying that we are not good fans is just the same rubbish that Megson lovers use to justify not sacking him, it is not true.

Re: Big Big chance
Fans like you are shit Tim...hate to tell you the truth but you are NOT a die-hard fan like to try to make out. You hardly ever go to matches and you've probably only seen one quarter of all the games Megson has actually taken charge of and yet you seem to have more opinion than anyone else.
And who can forget your all to arms on the night SKY announced Megson had taken over? Remember?
Sorry but I can't feel like you're part of the Bolton support - you're just a web troll who likes to find fault because he has no-one else to whinge at.

Re: Big Big chance
I am not the one who says we should have no ambition, I don't say no one would want to manage us, you say we should be happy with just staying up, you are the negative one. We have great fans and we are a great club with a fantastic history, a tremendous stadium and top training facilities, as soon as we get rid of the two little trolls, Megson and Gartside we will be able to make progress.
I go to plenty of games, oh and yes I predicted Megson was garbage from the outset, you are the one who has and is still supporting one of the worst managers in the history of the league. We are after all the only club without a clean sheet in the top four divisions. It is our worst defensive performance in 82 years, that is how bad the prat you are supporting is.

You also predicted - not once but twice - that he would take us down.
You've predicted the same again for this season... 3rd time lucky eh?

Re: Big Big chance
My view is that having 17th as your ambition will inevitably result in eventual relegation, I admit I thought it would come sooner than this, I am glad that it did not, but we are making no progress at all, in fact if you go on points per game Megson is getting steadily worse, season on season, our defence is now a national joke. Are you seriously suggesting he has been a success?

Re: Big Big chance
The majority of clubs making progress in this division are those with billions of pounds to spend. With every season our little group of hangers-ons gets smaller, not bigger. We've spent £100m in ten years and that includes the stadium build...we've had a decent return for that considering some clubs are spending that on their front line alone.

Re: Big Big chance
You are just do negative breeze, it is the drivel of the Megsonistas, Fulham have not spent more, Burnley have spent much less, Stoke have spent less, nor have Birmingham or Blackburn (in recent times). It is the line Megson ritually trots out. I see the crap about reducing the wage bill has disappeared since the accounts came out showing the wage bill has actually gone up.

Re: Big Big chance
Tim, even BSA is saying he has to cut his cloth accordingly now...look at the other thread. Looks like he has admitted clubs cannot be ambitious if they don't have mega-money to play with.

I am not saying we should be shooting for the Champions league or even UEFA Cup, but we can have more ambition than finishing one above relegation.

Re: Big Big chance
No not a relegation battle every year solid mid-table, the odd good cup run and just every now and then when you have a really good season and the bigger boys have a bad run a punt at the UEFA cup.

Re: Big Big chance
Solid mid-table every year? So if we finished in a solid mid-table position for five years on the trot how would we then make progress? Sounds like accepting mediocrity to me...

Re: Big Big chance
Perhaps I expressed myself badly, I meant solid mid table as routine, and some years better, a run late into a cup, or a push at a UEFA spot.

Re: Big Big chance
So you think we can get a UEFA spot with no money even though eight teams in the league have got budgets way, way beyond us?

Re: Big Big chance
No breeze what I said is that occasionally we can get close and yes now and then when several of those bigger teams have poor seasons as often happens we can perhaps steal a UEFA place if we have a really good season, as Fulham did last seasonand Birmingham or Fulham are on course to this season. That does not seem impossible.

Re: Big Big chance
And by dint of that logic it follows that teams that ordinarily have solid mid-table finishes will occasionally have off-seasons and end up in a relegation struggle or that teams that are ordinarily in a relegation struggle will occasionally have a mid-table finish.
Consistent success can only be achieved with high levels of regular cash.
I've come to the conclusion that basically you are supporting the wrong team...you're a glory-hunter who hasn't realised Bolton don't have glory.

Re: Big Big chance
But why would owen coyle chose us when he has turned down a dream job at celtic, I think he will stay with burnley because he is a man who has a contract with burnley.
I think megson has run out of time, I also think P.G. will walk with him.
Owen coyle is this seasons phil brown, Both nice guys, But not ready for bolton yet......... I.M.O.

Re: Big Big chance
That's what threw me. I believe the "2nd" Hull game is, in fact, Sunderland.
I'd be content with mediocre 12-15, tbh. I would prefer it to be attached to entertaining football that gets me excited, that gets me believing (again) that yes we can win games. These days I have no idea if we are capable of drawing, let alone winning, against anyone.
By the way, whoever mentioned Birmingham...don't they have money too, now?
