We were below Derby ...
Quite probably (hopefully) the last dig I'll ever feel the need to have at Megson, so here goes...
Megson was fond of pointing out that we were bottom of the table / below Derby / 5 points from 10 games etc when he took over.
Out of interest, we were also 3 points off 13th place.
Two and a bit years later, we are still in the bottom three and ... 3 points off 13th.

Re: We were below Derby ...
The 2 games in hand being Arsenal away and Wigan away. Meggers has lost all 3 matches (h and a) vs Arsenal, and managed 1 point from 2 attempts at Wigan.
So to be fair, if it went in accordance with his previous attempts, we would be 2.5 points off 13th.

Yes, good spot wakey -
The difference is, Megson had two years to get it right with his own set of players and 40 million quid. and he didnt.
Sammy Lee took over a team of rejects (bar a few) left by Allardyce. They had been slowly getting worse over a few months before Lee took over, the rot had already begun, he didnt do it.
Big Sam left aong with a few of our best players and all our back room staff.
We were left with nothing, no money to spend and a bare bones squad, Lee was given 10 games to pull a miracle off! He was far more up against it than Megson.
Megson had time, money and the backing of the board.
With all that he couldnt do better than fight relegation andtotally alienate the fans.
Anyone who knows football will see he had to go!
